Pedagogical conversations
The SeDEC is pleased to launch its ‘Pedagogical Conversations’ series for 2020. In this respect, staff members of primary and secondary Catholic schools are kindly invited to the following session:
- Title: Flipping the classroom in the Mauritian Context
- Keynote speaker: Mrs. Anita SAMY (High School Teacher, Sydney, Australia)
- Date: Thursday 27 February 2020
- Time: From 16h30 to 18h00
- Venue: ICJM
Discussion topic: What can we, as teachers, do to enhance our students’ learning and maximise their engagement so that they take ownership of the process? How can we, as teachers, swap our cap and become facilitators instead? Taking into consideration that most learners nowadays have access to the internet in some form, whether at school or at home, we can work on resources – finding or creating them – as well as use a variety of educational technologies and tools to equip learners to be successful. Also, these resources will enable us to gradually/partially flip our lessons and align our practices to the way students learn best. Ultimately, we will be able to create students who are both college-and career- ready.
RESPONDENT SPEAKERS: Mr. Rudaryo RAMSAMY (Head Master of Saint Enfant Jésus RCA) for the primary &
Mr. Clarel BERRY (Computer Science Educator at Loreto College Mahebourg) for the secondary
